Vanishing… Maine hadn't thought of that, and it shows on his face: surprise chased by a tiny hint of fear. He was ready to tackle this place alone. Figured that was the only option he had. But now that he knows Carolina and Wash are here, he wants to be with them.

He has a team. Why would he want to be alone?

Maine is quick to tamp that down, swallowing past it. Listening as Wash continues, the talk of rescuing them lighting up something different in his eyes. Determination.

It was just today—or was it yesterday, now?—that he drove a Warthog off a building to save his falling teammates. He's always there to catch them, to watch their backs. Of course he'd save Wash and Carolina.

Of course he'd work with whoever he needed to make it happen.

He clicks his tongue, then nods. Sure, all right. Wash has a point.

"Will make friends," he says, like it's yet another mission.
