That's the gist of it, yeah! But that's not all there is to it either. The point of Contests is to show off a Pokemon's Appeal, to use the moves it knows and its natural charm points to show off how special it is! Depending on how you use the moves, you can even show off different sides of the same Pokemon! It's a contest, so there is a winner, but I think that's much less important than showing off your Pokemon.
