Reiner's gaze drops. He considers explaining that Bertholdt is in love with someone else. That he knows he's not worthy of Bertholdt's love, anyway. That loving Bertholdt is selfish of him, yet he can no more stop it than he can command his heart to quit beating. Nor would he want to stop.

After a long pause, he raises his eyes again. "I've been meaning to tell him. I just … haven't gotten the words out."
