Character Name: Megumi Aikawa
Canon: Heaven Burns Red
Canon Point: After the events of 4.2, but before the Yuina Summer event. (Note: this will probably change at the end of next week.)
Age: Assumedly 17, for all intents and purposes.
Season: Summer
Flower: Bougainvillea

About My Character:

Your local Osaka-ben psychic sword-wielding, guitar playing teenage girl who has been fighting aliens as part of the 31-A assault squad in the Japanese military. She's a bit of an idiot, but she has a good, firey heart that wants to protect the people that she gets close to and cares about.

While she knows and understands herself a little better now, there's still some stuff that she feels a bit of complications over but opts to not think about it too much.

Some parts of her character are spoiler territory, so let's go through those a bit, as they're important:


Chapter 3 & 4 spoilers; click through to see them [cw: death, corpse related talk, unreality, existential crisis]

First and foremost, Megumi is not human. She is actually an alien creature called a 'Narby', which looks like a round squishy blob. But more specifically, she's a Human Narby, a Narby that the military manipulated by having them devour the corpses of dead, talented humans that they can utilize to fight for humankind. :)

This revelation caused Megumi to have a wholeass existential crisis and actually leave, to where she had a whole character arc in finding herself again. She does, in fact have all the memories and experiences of the dead 'Aikawa Megumi', but she's more than those memories now and has things that the original 'Aikawa Megumi' didn't have.


She is very unlikely to speak on the above spoilers to most people on a general basis - as it is a pretty big spoiler for the series, so please let me know if you're okay with spoilers! - unless something comes up that brings them to the surface; she's much more willing to share it at her current canon point though, especially now that she knows what kind of place Ellipsa's like.

CR I'm Looking For:

Friends! She doesn't have many at the moment, but I'd like her to befriend others. She's someone who has not had many friends prior to the beginning of her canon and being the only one from her canon has kind of made her a little... lonely. She has her Pokemon, sure, but it isn't the same.

Psychics. Megumi was essentially a member of a psychic cult (she does not see it as such, however) whose leader told her that she would be the savior of the world one day which kind of ruined her mental health because she put her very existence onto that prophecy for the longest time! She's better now at least, and a much stronger person than she was before at least. I'd like for her to meet others with psychic powers and see how they differentiate. Megumi's psychic powers seem to have a spiritual-based concept dealing with the Higher Self, meditation and the like.

Music characters. While Megumi herself probably won't be doing much music in Ellipsa as her bandmates aren't here, she'll at least be practicing every now and again and want to share her band's music through the CD she regained. She's part of an all girls rock 'n roll band called She is Legend as the secondary guitarist and sometimes sings in choruses for some particular songs.

Fishing gang. DOES ANYBODY ELSE HERE FISH???? One of Megumi's new hobbies is her trips to go fishing so that she can eat. She will occasionally sell any additional fish so she can have additional Moon Coins for an emergency.

Characters who have gone to war/military types. Megumi is in fact a part of the Japanese military fighting against aliens from outer space, so people she can bond with in this way would be great.

Those who can relate to her. Do you have an existential crisis??? Well then, feel free to meet her, because she's Gone Through It!

Plots I'm Looking For:

So Megumi is coming fresh off the heels of 4.2, so she hasn't exactly tested some of her new psychic abilities. Of course, some of these will take a lot of juice from her. She can actually send people into their mental mindscapes so if anybody ever wants to play around with that in the future, let me know - she'd most likely do this to help another person out.

I'd also like a roommate for her - she wouldn't outright ask though, since she's from a canonpoint where she can pretty much be Independent, but I miss having my characters have roommates. Please. I'm begging. I'm going to be a little picky with roommate as it has to be someone that she likes, tho.

Handwaving: Megumi works at the Research Center as an assistant that tests things out - she primarily does this because her deflector is tech-based and needs to be repaired every now and again, so if you want to see her doing stuff around, feel free to notice her! Feel free to also find her fishing or selling items that she doesn't need.

She also still lives in the starter apartments, which she can be seen with her Quaxly named Maru and her Ditto named Ditty.

honestly i think sonia and megumi could be pretty cute CR! she grew up in a country that was pretty war torn to the point even elementary kids are taught to drive a tank and she was put on a pedestal as a princess as well.

she's also been at the research centre a fair bit lately as she's trying to dig up as much info on the backstory as possible so she's prepared for anything else that happens, arriving when everything went dark sucked. (and she also misses living with other people so if they do hit it off it could go the roommate route!)

me, a former sdr2 RPer: ah, yes, I almost forgot that game was like that

honestly I think they would get along pretty well since there's some similarities in setups - the Seraph squadron are full of people who are geniuses in A Particular Field and have goofy personalities. and even though Megumi acts sometimes like a Rough Osaka Psychic, she is honestly really soft and protective over people she cares about. And also, she gets sending kids into military, one of her squadmates that she's extremely close to is a designer baby child who was a ship captain.

she's also been getting CR with Twogami so she knows A Little About Robot Bear (but not a lot).

but they can totally run into each other in the research center, megumi is Extremely Dumb so she can only barely help with research but she's useful in other areas (???)

but that makes sense! and honestly sonia herself is pretty weird when it comes to j-dramas and the occult so uh. they'll be fine. everyone has their own quirks!!!

but in that case maybe sonia saw her struggling with something and offered to help? she doesn't work there but no use in letting someone struggle on their own

look, her whole squad is full of eccentrics. they literally have a fukawa-esque serial killer in their squad. It's fine.

Megumi is kind of occult adjacent due to her being a psychic and her series makes a lot of referential stuff to things from the 2000s which may or may not include Japanese dramas, so. At least she would Get It, to an extent, although it has been a hot minute since she's watched a J-Drama because they don't have cable on base, but she has been in an arguably bad movie which somehow got popular amongst children (???)

and yeah, that could work! she's probably pretty bad with testing some of the tech that they're trying to get stupid proofed so assistance in that regard would be nice!

that's really cool though!! hopefully it'll come up in conversation sometime, as that sounds like something fun and maybe megumi can share what being on a set is like. (is there drama between the actors on set--)

please don't hurt yourself, megumi... but perfect! we can go ahead with assuming something wasn't quite working and sonia helped her figure it out there then uwu

what's really funny is that when they did their movie production, there was no set. they had no budget. she, along with 5 others were grabbed as a unit to go record themselves in a dungeon, fight aliens and then dub over it trying to make it into a superhero movie.

(megumi died first most of the time in these, because she had to also help the band with the movie's theme song....)

and yeah, there was some Drama, she can talk about it because most of it is stupidly hilarious much to everyone's chagrin.
