"I do apologize for startling you, Houndoom here can get ahead of me rather easily when walking- and he sees something he wishes to investigate," a gesture towards the dog-like pokémon as he spoke. A little chiding for Houndoom in getting ahead of him, but there was warmth directed towards the larger of his two companions there. He couldn't blame the pokémon, it had been a while since they had seen pokémon outside of his team and those belonging to the couple of people from the same world.

A new scent, as it were. More so with the new friend there on Houndoom's head.

"As a whole they are all known as pokémon, yes. In particular, that little one is called a Turtwig," a hand brushing over the little kitten-like one's head, "This would be a Litten," and an affectionate brush of fingertips over curved horn, "And this is a Houndoom, as I mentioned just before."

Acted as something of an introduction for them- "I am Clavell, these are creatures native to the world I come from."
