[ He named his little shoulder companion Fluffy and she fully understands why.
Truthfully, before now she would not have been able to imagine meeting the "ashen demon" while he was holding a plush fish ( :D ) and had an adorable... whatever that is on his shoulder but she's strangely pleased to have this opportunity. Before, when meeting her world's Byleth on the battlefield, she felt an odd ping that she's never felt she could explain well. It was as though she always felt aware of Byleth's presence and at first she assumed it was that hyperawareness she often experiences in battle when she knows a particularly important or dangerous enemy is nearby.
Lately she has felt less certain of that. Lately she has wondered if it has something to do with her second Crest.
But at the moment, with Byleth's fish cheerfully staring her down and Fluffy making such a cute chirping sound, that seems a bit secondary, an afterthought to how strongly she feels that Fluffy is a perfectly fitting name.
Perhaps that unexpected feeling of understanding is why she isn't too self-conscious to turn to her new bird friend in front of him and talk to it. ]
Then I will trust you to help me take good care of you. [ It seems like an acceptable deal to the torchic, who lets out a small trill in response. She laughs in spite of herself. ] We have an agreement.
[ When she glances in Byleth's direction again, she does her best to regain her composure. ]
To be honest, I have a dozen questions. Would you be opposed to taking a short walk with me if you are done here? I prefer the open sky to the underground.
