This is great timing, in fact, because Hijikata plans to share any relevant intelligence gathered in his meeting with Dawn with Ayato. Depending on Dawn's instructions he may ask Ayato to keep the confidential parts under wraps, but while Hijikata can't read him very well at all he trusts him to do his job as Otherworlder Ambassador, and as such he'll provide him with any potentially important information.
