[There were two reliable ways that Rider usually used to recognise Hijikata. The first being the aforementioned cigarette smell, and the second being his distinctive voice. True, he was not as loud as Ozymandias or Napoleon, but it was one she usually recognised immediately.
But… right now, she was picking up neither. She heard the group working nearby, but didn’t even seem to realise her Master was amongst them at first- not until she suddenly felt an increase in mana-flow to her.
He was close. She slowed her pace- a look of focus coming into her expression.]

“Master. Can you hear me?”
And she’d then listen out closely for a reaction.]
