I couldn't trust him again even if he wanted it, which... he had every chance not to run me off, I probably was too accommodating about things for the longest time, and still did run me off.

And it's not like he's incapable of caring about people. I know that firsthand. He's treated his newer friends with much more care. And yes people can change, but I tried to get him to see that he was on a bad path myself and he wouldn't even stop to acknowledge I was speaking, let alone anything else. Not the way he listens to them.
