I'm not pointing fingers. I hit way too many too lates to do that. It's hard to confront something like that.
And it sucks that whatever taught him to be better was too late for your friendship. I can't say any for sure about that, but the easiest possible reason is that he may not have known he was taking you for granted. Which isn't a good reason or an excuse, but it is better than him knowing and doing it anyway.
