Erwin is well practiced at keeping his thoughts from his face. It had become a necessary skill after the death of his father, caused by his own foolishness, and carried him forward into adulthood as he stepped closer and closer to leadership. It's likely saved his life on multiple occasions.

For the past several years, that mask has had to be stonily authoritative, detached and borderline cold - most of the time. He wore many as Commander, switching them as easily as an actor on the stage, depending on his audience. Some were more genuine than others.

Erwin regards Eren now with a real but subdued interest; he hasn't told anyone so explicitly yet what he knows and remembers - not even Levi. He knows, overall, the outcome, and some of the painful events leading up to it. But he hasn't yet sorted out what any of it means, to him or for all of them here. Even so, he recognizes the significance of what Eren has just told him. That he chose something else.

"I see." It's fascinating, really, that this sort of thing could happen at all - how many other worlds might be out there? Could one grab them from here at any time?

"And then you were brought here - would you rather be back in this other place? Folkmore? Was it very like this?"
