CINDER - meme

Cinder is an app that is meant to find platonical handholding partners and maybe budding friendships (or maybe even relatioships). Here is a code you can use for making your character their own mock up Cinder profile. Keep things PG in this post.

This post can used for both IC and OOC purposes.

You can find a Sinder one here.

NAME, GENDER, AGE

Something about the character.

Additionally you can add three pics with thumbnails anywhere on the post (as long as it is between the table tags and not between other tr tags). Works best with square images

And for easy matchmaking commenting.

[ Eren picks yes so that he can ask the most important question: ]

What's the best food you've tried here?

The strawberry milkshake at Kagami's Diner.

What of you?

Chocolate cakes from Equinox bakery.
I haven't tried a strawberry milkshake, only chocolate. Things like that were completely new to me when I came here but they're really good.

Have you tried a cheeseburger?

[ That's his favourite savoury thing so far for some reason. ]

Chocolate is an excellent choice. It exists in my world, but the particular type of sugar required to make it is hard to come by, and thus expensive. I've not yet been to Equinox Bakery, but if you recommend their chocolate cake so highly, I shall be sure to try it. Kagami's Diner offers a chocolate milkshake as well, I believe.

And speaking of, I have tried a cheeseburger there as well. It's quite delectable, too. Have you tried a hot dog? Do not let the name fool you if you haven't, it is not made from dog meat.
[That's his favourite savoury thing.]

I don't know if chocolate exists anywhere in my world. It might, but I didn't grow up with a lot of things. We were pretty isolated and food was scarce for a lot of my life.

I recommend anything at Equinox. Rafal is a good baker but anything there is good even if he didn't make it.

Kagami's Diner. Where's that? I'll go there.

Hot dog? No. I don't think I would have tried it because of the name. What is it?

[ The name tells him nothing, especially if it's not made of dog! But then, hamburgers aren't ham, so whoever names these things apparently doesn't care how much sense the names make. ]

I am sorry to hear that, and I hope that your conditions have taken a turn for the better.

It is in Blossomcrown, located
[Directions here]. Might I ask for directions to Equinox Bakery in turn, please? I'm sure my wife and I would enjoy treating ourselves there.

'Tis a type of sausage, served in a long bun. Several condiments are available to further flavour it to your liking. The diner often serves it with a side dish called "fries", which are strips of fried and salted popotoes. Oh, which you may know as potatoes.

This place is better than I could have dreamed. It's better than the last world I was in, too. But I think almost anywhere would be better than the hell I grew up in.

Thanks. Yeah, Equinox is in Suwaning at [ directions ].

I know what fries are. Burgers come with those too. Those are really good. I ate a lot of potatoes growing up so I thought I'd be sick of them but apparently there's all kinds of ways to cook things I never knew about at all. You call them popotoes? Interesting.

I wonder why a sausage of all things is called a dog. That's weird. But I'll try one anyway.

I am sorry to hear that your home was so terrible. Were you at war?

Thank you. If you should see me there, do not hesitate to say hello. I do not believe I have your name yet?

Ah, popotoes are a most versatile food, aren't they? There is often some new way to use them just waiting to be found. I know a rather excellent dish with them called gratin, which features popotoes and meat cooked in creamy sauce. I would be glad to pass it along to you, if you wish. And aye, that is what they're called where I'm from. 'Tis passing strange that so many things have the same name here, only for there to be one or two exceptions such as popotoes and potatoes. They are rendered all the more startling for it.

I agree, though I do not mind reserving my curiosity for another helping.

Yeah. We were at war. There was other stuff before that but it's all ultimately related to the same thing. I'm a soldier, so you can do the math.

[ It's so much worse than that sounds, in fact, but anyway :') ]

Oh, sorry. I'm Eren.

I guess they are versatile. I'm just learning that. I mostly had them baked or boiled. They were never exciting, just something that we could still grow and still feed people with relatively easily. We didn't have a lot of spices and stuff like that like I've seen here. I didn't know this many spices existed in the world. I'm not a great cook but I'm learning to do more. I'd like that recipe, yeah.

[ Oh right manners are a thing. ]

Please.

That's wild that you have a lot of the same words for things but then just a few different. Was your world really different from this one?

Unfortunately, I am all too familiar with such an existence. My own country has until recently been at war for a thousand years. Full glad am I to know that life is better for you here.

Here you are, Master Eren:
[Recipe acquired: Popotoes au gratin!] If you require any assistance, please feel free to reach out to me. In fact, this exchange may have given me an idea: to show everyone how to make this via the network.

'Tis difficult to truly quantify it in a general sense. Our calendar is different, and we say "popoto" instead of "potato". The people commonly called "humans" here are "hyurs" where I am from. Magic exists in my world, as it does in some others, but not all. In the end, more than anything, people still seem to be people, for better or for worse.
dreamsofwings: (36)

omg i can't believe i didn't know about that recipe site!

[personal profile] dreamsofwings 2024-01-23 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
A thousand years. That's so many. I don't have a country.

[ He barely understands what "country" means, honestly. ]

But the place I grew up, it wasn't peaceful. A lot of people thought it was because we were supposed to be safe behind walls, but that was just people with blinders on. They didn't want to see more than that.

But my people were also brainwashed for the last century so we didn't even know there were people outside the walls besides us. Those people hated us, though. We were at war with monsters. Then we were at war with people we'd never heard of.

[ And then the whole world! But that's Eren's doing and he's not going to just drop that in this conversation. ]

Magic doesn't exist there. We have the same calendar as far as I can tell, but there are different holidays and things. That seems to be pretty common to have different celebrations, if you get to have any.

[ He knows he's being a downer, but whatever. ]

Just Eren is fine, though. That recipe looks a little complicated. I might need you to show me how some of it works.

[ For instance, make a roux? What the hell is a roux? ]

You have other things besides humans. Like what? We just have humans and shittier humans.

((Oh isn't it great?? :D found it by accident lol. Too bad it hasn't been updated in years.))

Such terrible deception. That you and your people suffered so is inexcusable. Might I ask what manner of monsters you warred against?

My people were also lied to. We were told that our enemies, the dragons, began the war, and any naysayers were executed as heretics. But it was us.

Of course, I would be glad to assist you. If I do present myself cooking the dish on the network, and I intend to, I shall let you know.

My world has many spoken races besides hyurs - myself, for example. My people are called the elezen. We are tall, and long of limb compared to your kind. Though more than anything, we are noted by our pointed ears.

Titans. Giant man-eating monsters. It's more complicated than that. Titans were people once. People with my bloodline have the ability to become titans. It's not usually reversible, but there's a few of us that can control it.

[ The "us" there is pretty informative. ]

You fought dragons? We didn't have those where I came from but I heard about them in the place I was, Folkmore. I met some dragons there that were nice, but a lady I talked to told me that dragons were fierce. I guess your kind were also fierce.

Were you told that lie so you'd keep warring with them?

Taller than humans. Hyurs. How tall are you?
