I mean, I'm interested in getting into it, so my questions will probably be very extensive? Just to like warn you in advance. Or, hey, did you perhaps use any particular guide or resource to get you started? I don't wanna grill you about this; I've just been having difficulty figuring out how the hell it works.
Extensive questions are absolutely fine! I don't have any good up to date guides regarding VTubing, but I can at least explain options. Let me know if you want me to expand on any of this; I'm trying to make this short for the sake of simplicity. I can also answer any other questions, too.
1) L2D model. This is the kind of model that you see a lot of the big corporations use. Generally, this involves a modeler drawing the art for the model, cutting it, (generally utilizine a combination of like, an art program and photoshop) and putting it in Live2D for rigging (basically, being able to move the model) and then the VTuber would use a program for streaming. Most indies use VTube Studio. I would say that if you're looking to commission these, they tend to go on the pricer side, upwards of hundreds of dollars for a custom one. If you want something that's potentially less custom, you can look under the tag over at BOOTH.
2) 3D model. So, you can actually make 3D models for free by utilizing Vroid Studio as an option. I know there are some people that might also use Blender, but I'm not well versed on that front to really say much. Overall, these tend to be somewhat cheaper to commission versus L2D, but can go on the higher end of things depending on what you're looking for. I know people use either 3tene or VSeeFace for that!
AHA, okay. I was mostly getting stalled around the "how the fuck do i get the face tracking shit set up" phase of the equation, which 3tene and VSeeFace are the thing for, it seems. THANK YOU, I will. Now proceed to completely fail to do anything with this information while work destroys my soul, but ONCE IT STOPS, shall commence poke.
It's no problem at all! I've personally used VSeeFace and it's pretty solid, but there's definitely worth checking 3tene out; there might be some other capture options out there for 3D which some Youtube videos might cover but those two are the ones I'm familiar with.
