No no, that's not it! He's just such a 4th-wall-breaker, and usually Gintamas will tackle even the most serious drama with practical irreverence if they get crossed over with another series, but with Saya he doesn't feel like that's going to work... basically Blood+ is too heavy for a Gintama man to lighten via parody! Of course that's not something he can really explain or express, so he just internally goes "Her author piled way too much onto her!".

Aw Saya... her alraune form is so pretty, but I forgot that I already managed to get Hijikata tied up for the next full moon cycle again (which I of course only remembered after I already put it in my post above...) so pokémon it is! They do deserve a lighter moment after the memory portal and the doppelgänger incident, I'd say.

I know that's not it, I was joking. Sorry I should be more clear, my attention span absolutely sucks for the last few days.

For what it's worth she likes irreverence. It's a nice distraction. Just gotta stay off her history or her hibernation and the experiments around it, and step lightly around the vampire thing... but if he drifted off track, she'd forgive him for it.

Honestly she can use all the lightness she can get right now. Aside from the "by the way I might die in a few days" piece of the conversation that needs to happen, she'll welcome it!

I ESL-failed by writing "out of his league" instead of "out of his depth" - and for what it's worth, he would feel that she's out of his league romantically, too! (But then this man even managed to shoot down the normal human girl who confessed to him when they were young, despite the feelings being mutual... let's pour one out for him.)

THAT'S SO MUCH STUFF TO SIDE-STEP... it's not even that he can't handle it, but being unable to do anything about it leaves him hand-wringing! He'll be so damn relieved once she ends up saved from the hibernation. But first he'll try and be there for Rosen like he promised!

lol Hijikata, you've gotta loosen up man. People who take romance or sex too seriously confuse her, but then there is a species barrier at play. Saya's basically a wild animal who happens to look human most of the time.

Yeah well her life is complicated what can she say. It'll get slightly less complicated once her hibernation is resolved but I'll be giving her a few tweaks to compensate for the loss of that big weakness while she gets to keep most of her other strengths. More bloodthirst, needing to feed more regularly, stuff like that.

That's a species barrier alright, but some humans are more adventurous! Sadly Hijikata isn't one of those; he always needs an extra push from ~environment effects~.

Well, we can't have Saya's life get too easy, right? Luckily she has willing donors pretty much lining up for her!

I just realized she has a husband and three significant others and they're all immortals so I think that probably says it all. :3 Some of her partners are human but it's definitely a minority. (But for humans being a prude makes even less sense to her, aren't you all on a clock? lol)

She'll never be short of blood nope! I also like to give anyone who wants their character snacked on a chance to sign up too, hence the added bloodthirst.

They are on a clock, but that makes it so much more important to be sure that whoever they find is ~the one~! There's only so much time for do-overs! (Says... some romantic sap, probably; definitely not Hijikata!!)

Cross-species relations are so complicated... but even among humans it's way too stressful, so Hijikata will probably stick to his one true love (icon related)!
